After sticking with the first generation since 2015, Honda unveiled the all-new 2023 HR-V in April to a great deal of fanfare. With a new bold design and extra features, it’s a cut above the first generation and sure to be a hit when it reaches dealerships. And while it won’t be available for purchase until the summer, now’s a great time to learn more about it. Find out what to love about the 2023 Honda HR-V, so you’ll be ready to take one home when they’re available.
A New Design for the New Year
You’ll notice a big difference between the 2023 HR-V and previous models as soon as you see it in person. The sleek roofline, longer hood, and new grille make the crossover look sleek, sporty, and expressive. Add the tailgate spoiler and the wide-set LED taillights and headlights, and it’s clear this vehicle is ready for action.
A Roomy, Nimble, and Versatile Driving Experience
The 2023 HR-V also has a wider stance and longer wheelbase, providing extra space on road trips. But even though it’s bigger than earlier models, it’s still as graceful as possible. Thus, you won’t have trouble fighting traffic or maneuvering into a tight parking spot in Birmingham. Instead, it’s as big and small as you need it to be, allowing it to fit into any situation.
Have a Blast Driving the HR-V
Some vehicles don’t do much more than taking you from point A to point B, while others make the experience fun. You can put the 2023 HR-V in the latter category, thanks to the new independent rear suspension and a more responsive engine. These new additions make the vehicle more responsive and thrilling to drive. That’s true, whether you’re going across town or to the other side of the country.
Choose From Powerful Engine Options
So, Honda hasn’t released much info about the engines yet, except that they’re more responsive. Still, rumor has it that the HR-V will share engines with the Civic, and that’s excellent news. If that pans out, you’ll be able to select from a standard or turbocharged engine.

And Maybe a Hybrid
Do you need another reason to love the HR-V? How about the rumor that Honda will include a hybrid in the lineup? It launched a hybrid HR-V in Europe without adding gas-powered choices to the lineup. You’ll be able to get a gas engine in the U.S. if you want, but you also might have the option to buy a hybrid instead. This remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
