It’s been described as an “orchestra of Christmas lights” and even that sells it way short. What are we talking about? It’s Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland, of course! This legendary holiday lighting installment is a nationwide phenomenon and you can check it out for yourself in the Magic City at the Birmingham Race Course.
According to Shadrack Christmas Wonderland’s website, “There are thousands channels simultaneously directing this orchestra of lights. Using the most technologically advanced equipment in the industry, Christmas Wonderland magically expresses what Christmas means to us. Our hope is for this show to spark a smile on your face like it does ours.”
That’s some serious Christmas cheer! This is a drive through experience and the lights went on display on November 16, 2018 and will run until January 9, 2019 at the Birmingham Race Course. You can experience the Christmas Wonderland on Monday through Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., and on Saturday through Sunday from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Please note that Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are very popular nights to visit the light show and typically long lines await. If you want to avoid the long wait, Shadrack’s encourages you to visit the light installation Monday through Thursday nights.

Tickets are purchased from inside your car before you drive through the installation and cash/credit cards are accepted. Costs are as follows:
- Cars or Family Vans (8 passengers or less): $25
- Activity Van, Limo, or Mini Half Bus: $40
- Tour/School Bus: $80

The light installation is located at the Birmingham Race Course on John Rogers Drive in Birmingham, AL. You’ll enjoy a drive through Christmas light display that spans over 3.25 miles. The lights are coordinated and synched up with the music played over the radio in your car. You’ll see Santa Claus and all his friends like you have never experienced them before. There is even a new Santa’s Mountain theme that features custom built, giant all LED displays.
