Runners, joggers, and walkers alike will lace up their shoes and join a fun race for a great cause on Saturday, August 10. Hosted by the Greystone Golf & Country Club, the Save the O’s 5K benefits the far-reaching research and education efforts of The Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Register today and know that your fee will be working as hard as your legs on race day!
The Race
Save the O’s includes both a 5K and a 1-mile fun run, making it a great option for participants of all fitness and endurance levels. Registration for the chip-timed 5K is $30 until July 31. Registration for the 1-mile fun run/walk is $25 until July 31. There are also options for ovarian cancer survivor rates, “SleepIn” donors, and Virtual 5K and fun run participants. Register by August 1 to guarantee your official race T-shirt.
Pre-race packet pickup takes place on Wednesday, August 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Trak Shak in Homewood (2839 18th Street South). You can also pick up your packet from the Greystone Golf & Country Club’s Founders Clubhouse (4100 Greystone Drive) on Thursday, August 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
On race day, the 5K begins at 8 a.m., and the fun run at 9 a.m. The race day location is at the Greystone Golf & Country Club’s Aquatic Complex. Enhancing the excitement of the day, there will also be music, food, prizes, and a silent auction.
The Cause
The Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation was formed to raise awareness and bolster education about ovarian cancer signs and symptoms in an effort to promote early intervention. The organization also funds research with events like the Save the O’s 5K and other successful fund-raising ventures. To date, they have raised more than $1,400,000 for ovarian cancer research.
Save the O’s is hosted by the Greystone Golf & Country Club in loving memory of Lori Johnson.
