Spend The Day At The McWane Science Center

Little girl looking at science museum exhibit

Do your little ones love science? If they enjoy building robots, learning about extinct and living animals, and playing fun games, they will love the McWane Science Center. There are four floors filled with games, bubble rooms, animals, and so much more! Let’s take a closer look at the coolest museum in the Magic City.

Exhibits

Each level of the McWane Science Center is filled with a variety of innovative exhibits, fun experiments, and hands-on games that will appeal to kids of all ages.

As soon as you walk in the science center you will be amazed at what the first level has to offer. The most popular floor has the ScienceQuest center that will keep older kids happily occupied for hours! If your kids love to see demonstrations on how things work and how they are built, this will be their favorite level.

One floor down, you’ll find the McWane Center’s aquatic-themed area, with unique tanks filled with many different sea animals including Epaulet Sharks, White Spotted Bamboo Sharks, Southern Stingrays, and Cownose Rays. Get ready to touch stingrays and sharks!

The second floor at the McWane Center has something for everyone! In the Itty Bitty Magic City, younger children can play safely and have fun and explore on their own. This level is also home to dinosaur and sea monster exhibits.

Level three is where you can find art, tech, and the traveling exhibit! If your child loves art and technology, you will probably spend most your time on the third floor of the McWane Science Center.

At-Home Experiments

Not ready to leave at the end of the day? Bring the McWane Science Center experience back home with you through some fun and educational experiments. Don’t Spill The Water, a McWane favorite, will be a great challenge for your kids. All you will need is a glass filled with water and a smooth piece of paper, like a playing card or a notecard. Place the card over the mouth of the glass. Make sure you have a tight grip. Turn the glass upside down quickly over the bowl or sink. Let go of the card and see what happens! This experiment teaches your little scientists all about low and high pressure.
