Whether you’re a committed cat-person, general animal lover, or just an outdoor enthusiast, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to hit the running trails for a good cause. On April 13, Veterans Park will welcome racers for a 5k and 1-mile walk to benefit the Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue. This nonprofit rescues abandoned cats and provides adoption opportunities within their no-kill, cage-free shelter.
When and Where
Rain or shine, runners will convene at Veterans Park on Saturday, April 13. Check-in starts at 8 a.m., and the 5k race begins at 9 a.m. The 1-mile walk/run will begin at 10:30 a.m. Veterans Park is located at 4800 Valleydale Road, Hoover, AL.
You can pick up a race packet on April 11-12 at Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The rescue is located at 2113 Marlboro St, Hoover, AL 35226. You can register HERE from now until April 12 at midnight. Entry for the 5k is $25 for adults, and $15 for children 10 years old and under. Entry for the 1-mile run/walk is $15 for adults, and $5 for children 10 years old and younger. You can also register on the day of the event during check-in, but take note that prices will increase.
Meow-A-Thon and Whisker Walk
Participants will have two ways to get a move on for a good cause. If you’re feeling up for a brisk jog, the first event is a 5k race through the park’s varied terrain. You’ll cross open fields, picturesque trials, and even paved pathways. If you just want to get out and enjoy the morning air at a lighter pace, a 1-mile run/walk will follow the race.
