Calling all gardeners! This beautiful Alabama spring is the perfect time to freshen up your gardening skills, and the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens are hosting a special class on planting in containers. This event is part of the Saturdays in the Garden Series, which helps gardeners of all skill levels learn practical methods for better planting and plant care.
When and Where
The event will be hosted in the Orientation Room at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Saturday, May 18. It will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Birmingham Botanical Gardens is located at 2612 Lane Park Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35223. Tickets are $5 for Garden members and $7 for non-members. You can order your tickets HERE.
Plant a Container
The Saturday class will host Jay Draper of Shoppe as he details the ins-and-outs of container planting. He’ll help you identify which plants would work best in a container, and he can inspire your own gardening endeavors with some creative arrangements and other ideas. You’ll learn how to update your plants with the season, and find new ways to use containers within your existing garden space. Once you’ve learned the basics, the class will join gardening experts to make a seasonal container for display in the Thompson Enthusiasts’ Garden!
