Which is better: The Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot?
A Recent Kelly Blue Book Comparison Gave the 2013 Honda Pilot the Edge Over the Ford Explorer
If you are in the market for a mid-size SUV then you may want to look no further than the 2013 Honda Pilot. In a recent comparison study done by Kelly Blue Book the 2013 Honda Pilot received better marks than the 2013 Ford Explorer.
Granted it was close but not as close as they thought it would turn out. The essential advantage that the Pilot took over the Explorer was superior driving manners. With more and more drivers downsizing to more economic family vehicles that can still haul kids and groceries, the Pilot is an excellent choice.
Both the Pilot and Explorer have plenty of cargo room, good gas-mileage and are fun to drive. It was tie when it can to levels of utility. The Pilot and Explorer are similarly built featuring a more car-like unibody versus a truck-based platform. Cabin space, fuel economy and purchase price are also similar for both vehicles.
The Pilot comes out on top with an incredible powertrain, the 3.5 liter V6 paired with the 5-speed automatic transmission gives it a smooth yet strong acceleration. The Pilot has power and delivers it exactly when you need it. KBB also gives the Pilot better ride quality scores. Surprisingly, the boxy body moved diligently around town. Plenty of visibility and turning radius made for a more confident and comfortable ride than the Explorer.
The Pilot and Explorer share a similar roominess but the Pilot still received better marks for leg room. The Pilot has a noticeable 10% more cargo space than the Explorer, plus it seats eight, making it the only in its class to do so. The standards on the Pilot get you more for your dollar giving it a typical Honda value. According to KBB overall the Pilot takes the cake, but come see us at Brannon Honda today for a test drive and decide for yourself!
