The 2014 Honda Accord is a popular midsize sedan from a trusted manufacturer. It is incredibly affordable and gives you multiple options to choose from.
Although most people know that the Accord is a five-passenger, four-door sedan, they don’t necessarily know much more than that. Here are some things you probably didn’t know about this car.
First Model
The 2014 Honda Accord is the result of multiple decades of models, each representing an improvement over the previous one. The very first Accord was introduced in 1976.
American Assembly
Although the Honda Accord was originally assembled overseas, the second generation, which began in 1982, was the first car from Honda assembled within the United States. This car was first assembled in Marysville, Ohio, and was also the first Japanese nameplate to be assembled in the U.S.
Generations
Throughout the history of the Honda Accord, there have been nine generations. In 1990, the Accord got its classification of midsize sedan, and in 1994, (fifth generation), the interior became more ergonomic. The eighth generation (2008) changed the classification to a full-size car and increased fuel saving technology. The current generation was introduced in 2013 and has new technology.
Models and Trims
The standard 2014 Honda Accord Sedan is available in six trims: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6, and Touring. You can also get an Accord Coupe or Accord Hybrid. There are two hybrid models; one is a true hybrid, while the other can be plugged in and run solely on electricity.
Sport Trim
Although people have heard of the Sport trim, most don’t realize what it includes. There are 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and a decklid spoiler, among other additional options. You also get additional horsepower in this trim.
Staying Connected
Even if you heard of HondaLink, chances are you don’t know exactly what it does. In addition to letting you connect your smartphone to your car, it creates personalized radio stations. One of the coolest features, however, is the ability to listen to your news feed and updates from Twitter and Facebook.
ECON
There is an ECON button in the Accord that will automatically adjust the systems that consume fuel to increase your efficiency. Just press the button again to return to normal settings.
Eco Assist
Another largely unknown feature is Eco Assist. The bars around your speedometer will change colors (white or green) based on your efficiency. If they are green, you are getting more miles per gallon.
Active Noise Cancellation
The 2014 Honda Accord comes with Active Noise Cancellation that uses your audio system to help cancel out the sounds outside of your vehicle. This is especially great on the highway or in large cities.
Safety Warnings
The Accord also includes multiple safety warnings, such as Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, to help you stay safe while driving.
