Throw on your running shoes and hit the starting line for the Magic City Half Marathon on Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. Register by Oct. 31 for $90 or by Nov. 15 for $95. Walk-up registration is $100. The race begins at Regions Field and will take you by Railroad Park, Rickwood Field, Legion Field, and additional parks.
If you want to run but can’t complete a half marathon, you can register for the Magic City 5K or the Magic City 1 Mile Fun Run. Both start at Regions Field. Walk-up registration for the 5K is $50, and the fun run is $20. You can save money on the 5K by doing your research and registering early. Registration for the mile run is only open the day of the race, so you have some time to decide if that’s something you want to do or not.
Win a Prize
Do you like to win prizes? If so, you’ll be happy to compete in this event. People who compete in the fun run win medals, and those who place at the top in the 5K and half marathon take home cash prizes. The first-place male and female finisher will each take home $500. The prize money goes down $100 per spot, with the top five male and female finishers taking home money. Start training so you’ll be able to take home a sweet prize.
Be a Part by Volunteering
Maybe you aren’t a runner, but you don’t want to be left out of the fun. You can volunteer and still get to enjoy the race day excitement, but you won’t have to put on your running shoes. The organizers need volunteers on hand to make sure the race goes smoothly, so fill out the volunteer form and help them out. You might even get inspired by what you see at the race and decide to give it a go next time.
