Each year, KBB.com creates a list of the top new cars based on fuel efficiency. Staff members then narrow it down to 10 vehicles that earn a spot on this coveted list, based on a combination of overall appeal and value in addition to efficiency. This year, the Honda Accord Hybrid is one of the vehicles on the 10 Best Green Cars for 2015 list, continuing a trend, since it appeared on the list last year as well. The team at Kelley Blue Book gave praise to the Accord Hybrid for its fuel economy ratings in addition to its value.
The Accord Hybrid’s Qualifications
The Accord Hybrid is not only a green vehicle that generates low carbon dioxide emissions, but it is also fun to drive, something that is occasionally lacking in hybrid vehicles. This sedan runs on a 2-motor hybrid system, courtesy of its Honda Earth Dreams Technology powertrain that combines engine, hybrid, and electric-only drive modes in addition to regenerative braking. This powertrain allows the Honda Accord Hybrid to achieve 47 mpg combined*, broken up into 50 mpg city and 45 mpg highway*. KBB.com staff said that the electric motor effortlessly accelerates from a complete stop and the powertrain refinement and braking are some of the best they have noticed in a hybrid vehicle.
