Birmingham’s favorite arts festival is back and better than ever! The 2018 Birmingham Artwalk is the most highly anticipated yet and is scheduled for September 7 through 9. This event marks the 17th anniversary of the two-day celebration of all things art located in Birmingham’s loft neighborhood. Featuring the work of more than 100 visual artists, live musicians, street performers, food and drink vendors, and children’s activities, the Birmingham Artwalk promises something for everyone to see, do, and enjoy.
This free-to-the-public community event is safe and fun for the whole family. Friday night has the air of an art gallery opening and a street festival, while Saturday afternoon is geared more toward families and children. For the past two years, more than 10,000 people have attended the Birmingham Artwalk – proving itself to be well worth the effort to attend.
Birmingham’s Alfresco Art Gallery
As you browse the art set up along Morris Avenue, 1st Avenue, and 2nd Avenue, enjoy art from a variety of media, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Artwalk’s self-described mission is to “showcase established and emerging artists from the region as well as highlight the ongoing economic revitalization of downtown Birmingham.” With this many years in the books and still going strong, Artwalk seems to be exceeding its mission with each passing year.
