The Honda Accord is among the best-selling cars in the nation and a favorite of Birmingham drivers. If you’re looking for a stylish sedan that’s packed with technology, fun-to-drive, and incredibly efficient; you should seriously consider the Honda Accord. Completely redesigned last year, the 2013 Honda Accord brought a host of exciting revisions. For 2014, the Accord is back with more tricks up its sleeve. You may be asking, “What is the difference between the 2013 and 2014 Honda Accord?” We’re here to tell you.
The 2013 Honda Accord is new from the inside out. The Accord is smaller and more lithe, yet it remains spacious and accommodating. The generous interior is refined with a high-end cabin ambiance. It’s loaded with upgraded materials and advanced technology. The new Accord’s powerful performance is inspiring, and its fuel-economy impressive. The 2013 model brought direct-injection technology to the Accord’s standard four-cylinder engine, which increased power and enhanced efficiency. Plus, with a continuously variable transmission, the new combination returns an excellent EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway with 30 mpg combined rating.1
What’s New for 2014
What could Honda possibly do to make the Accord’s amazing 2013 redesign even more complete? In addition to upping the Accord’s interior game with upgraded fabric upholstery for the base LX trim, they added not one but two hybrids: a standard hybrid and a plug-in.
2014 Honda Accord Hybrid
The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid carries on the Accord’s legacy of lasting quality. The standard hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine matched to an electric motor with two battery packs. The Accord Hybrid provides strong acceleration and responsive handling for great driving dynamics that are sure to please those looking for more than just great fuel economy. Like its gas-powered counterpart, the Accord hybrid’s high-quality interior is spacious, refined, and packed with user-friendly technology. What’s more, the 2014 Honda Accord hybrid earns an EPA-estimated 47 mpg combined!2
2014 Honda Accord Plug-In
The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In is the other exciting hybrid addition to the beloved Accord family. The Accord Plug-In is a midsize family sedan that’s making waves in the market. In fact, Honda is one of the few automakers to offer such a configuration. The Accord Plug-In features an all-new hybrid system that’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack that’s recharged externally. This plug-in hybrid technology has the ability to propel the car using electric power alone. The Plug-in’s EPA-estimated energy consumption is rated at 29 kWh used per 100 miles. When fully charged, it has a pure electric range of 10-15 miles at which point it resumes normal hybrid drive. In standard hybrid mode, the Plug-in earns an EPA-estimated 46 mpg combined with 47 mpg city and 46 mpg highway.3 In addition to providing outstanding fuel economy, the Accord Plug-In is quick recharging and packs a premium interior overflowing with standard safety and convenience features.
