Car and Driver Magazine has been creating the “10Best Cars in America” list for 32 years now. During this period, the Honda Accord has made the list a truly impressive 30 times, creating a record. The magazine pointed out that the Accord is the only high-volume product that has consistently won this award every year.
A Well-Earned Honor
According to Honda representatives, this repeated honor for the Accord shows its enduring values of a fun-to-drive performance, safety, fuel efficiency, reliability, and quality. The most recent Accord is part of the 9th generation. This vehicle has been sold in the United States since 1976 and been manufactured at the Maryville, Ohio, Honda plant since 1982. Over 10.5 million models have been manufactured in the United States. This number includes both those that are sold domestically and those built for export. There have been 12.5 million Accords sold within the United States.
Additionally, IHS Automotive data on new retail vehicle registration shows that the Honda Accord earned the title of most popular car in the country for 2013 and 2014. So far, it is on track to repeat this designation for 2015.
