Adopt a Cat on “Hug Your Cat Day”!

Cat adoption Birmingham

June is full of crazy holidays that many people may not know about. One that every crazy cat lady (or crazy cat man) want-a-be should know about is Hug Your Cat Day! Hug Your Cat Day comes around every year on June 4th and if you don’t have a cat… it works out GREAT that June also happens to be “Adopt a Cat Month”!

So, for everyone in the Birmingham area that is looking for their first, second, or even fifth feline companion – we have put together a list of great places in and around Birmingham to adopt a cat to celebrate these great occasions! Remember, it is ALWAYS better to adopt an animal in need instead of buying one, and there are lots of great places in the Birmingham area to help you soothe your crazy cat lady (or man) needs!

Momakat Rescue

At Momakat they are all about the cats. They rescue a limited number of kittens and cats so that they are able to give them the best care and find them the best possible homes. They do have a charge for adoption, but there is a lot that is included in this cost, so you end up saving a lot of money in the long run. You can see their adoptable cats and kittens on their website, or go visit them and sit on the floor for some kitten playtime to see which cat wants to adopt you!

Kitty Kat Haven

Kitty Kat Haven is a no-kill rescue that sets out to rescue as many abandoned, stray, or even injured cats and kittens as they can. They provide medical treatment and the adoption fee for any of their cats or kittens includes the spay or neuter and up to date medical care.

Greater Birmingham Humane Society

When you visit the Greater Birmingham Humane Society you can adopt a variety of animals. This humane society takes in Cats, Kittens, Dogs, Puppies, Rabbits, Ferrets, Rats, Guinea Pigs, and Hamsters… OH MY! The Human Society is always getting in new animals, so you should check back often as you are looking to find the purr-fect cat to adopt!

Even if you don’t have a cat to hug on June 4th for Hug Your Cat Day, spend July visiting these great Birmingham area shelters and take advantage of “Adopt a Cat Month”!
