Wow, Accord Sport Looks Slick

The 2014 Honda Accord is a popular option for those looking for a midsize sedan, and the Sport is just one of several trims available. The other options include the LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The Accord Sport gets its name from its sporty appearance and extra power compared with the other Accord models.

The Accord Sport received five-star overall safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It also comes standard with multiple safety features, such as airbags, child seat anchors, child safety locks in the backseat, traction and stability control, front fog lights, and more. The Sport comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can switch it to a continuously variable one with manual mode if you prefer.

Gas Mileage

In terms of gas mileage, the 2014 Honda Accord Sport does better than much of its competition, despite its sporty nature and more powerful engine. It gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 34 on the highway, both of which are at least 4 mpg* higher than the average for cars in the Accord’s class. The Accord Sport gets an overall mpg of 29*, helping drivers save money on fuel. The sedan also has an excellent range due to its 17.2-gallon tank, at 413 miles in the city and 585 on the highway.

Features

In today’s advancing technological society, most drivers expect certain features from their cars, and the 2014 Honda Accord Sport does not disappoint. In terms of entertainment, you will get an auxiliary audio input jack as well as a USB/iPod connection. You can make hands-free calls using Bluetooth and easily keep an eye on the area behind your car with the rearview camera and video display. To help you get comfortable, you will also find dual-zone climate control, power seats with power lumbar in the driver’s seat, and cruise control to make driving even easier.

Engine and Power

The engine in the Accord Sport is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, and it also does slightly better than its competition. The Sport has 189 horsepower and 182 foot-pounds of torque, and both numbers are above average. When you throw in the weight to power ratio of 17.3 pounds per horsepower, however, you can see the true power of the Accord Sport as it is faster than most of the sedans within its class. This ratio allows the engine to rev up quickly and freely even if it was previously idle.

Roomy Interior

The Sport is similar to the other 2014 Honda Accord trims in that it offers a fairly roomy interior. While some dimensions, such as headroom, are around average for a midsize sedan, the Sport exceeds expectations in several measurements. You get slightly more shoulder room, hip room, and legroom with this sedan, which can make a huge difference in terms of comfort.
